Remember walking in your parents shoes?

KennaDee loves walking in my high heels. Everytime I wear them or anytime she sees them out on the floor, she puts them on and walks around the house. I remember doing that for some reason. Wouldn't it be fabulous if it was that easy to "fill someone else's shoes?" Just slip them on and that's it. I hope that KennaDee not only fills my shoes but that she will be able to do and give more than I have. Over the week I have been thinking a lot about family and how precious they are. I've also thought about how my children are so quick in forgiving and not only quick to forgive but so quick to forget. Forgive and Forget. Heavenly Father is so right when He says we need to become more like them. Why are we so quick to judge and so slow to forgive? If only we could see the bigger picture and keep the eternal perspective in our lives as we go about our days, we may be able to forgive and forget more frequently.

One of our friends gave Jackson this tie. Isn't he adorable?? Brian says this morning when I brought him into the bedroom, "Poor guy, sorry buddy, only 2 months old and we're already forcing ties on you." He's our precious gem. Of course, KennaDee would say, "No, Jackson, no gem. Jackson shark." According to her, I (mommy) am the princess, daddy is the King, she is the "agor" (alligator), and Jackson is the shark. What laughter she constantly brings into the home these days.

Where have we been this past month??

I can't believe how fast the past month has gone. I have told myself several times that I needed to update the blog but just haven't had the time to sit down and update y'all on our lives. So here's what's happened the past month.

Brian and KennaDee made a little snowman before Christmas, since we hadn't received any snow, they made it out of cotton balls and random items I had found. KennaDee loved it. She loves spending time with Daddy and helping him with different activities or projects.

For New Year's we had some of our friends over from our last ward. They spent the night here and KennaDee loved having one of her best friends sleep in her room with her (even though she protested for over an hour to go to sleep). I think part of it was that she saw us pull out all the snacks and games that we were going to play after the kids went to bed. That was a mistake to pull all of that out before we put them to bed. They all took a bath together. KennaDee insisted on taking a bath with them.

We finally got our first snow storm, but of course, we only got about an inch or so and by the next day, it was all melted away. KennaDee and I decided to take advantage of what we got and went out and built a snowman. She LOVED it. Isn't she adorable? We love our little princess. Or as she would say, "me no princess, mommy princess, me agor. (alligator)"

I started helping my mother with her job again this month so that has kept me busy. She was able to come up and visit us this month for about 10 days. It was so wonderful having her here. We hope to be able to get see her more often. While she was here, we went to the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Masonic Memorial. We would have gone to other sites but it was really cold and really windy. She said "I'll come back in June and we'll do all the touring stuff." She is from Texas and is obviously not used to any kind of cold weather. It really was quite cold though, it was 19 degrees but with the wind, felt like it was 12 degrees. We meant to take pictures but didn't realize that the batteries were dead in our camera.

KennaDee is loving her new little brother and helps out with everything these days. She is quite the little helper. While my mom was in town, she taught KennaDee how to say "hook 'em horns" while holding the hand sign for the Longhorns. For the first week, she loved saying that and Brian tried teaching her to say "Goooo Cougars" instead. She wouldn't say it for anything until about a week later. Now everytime I say KennaDee, hook 'em horns, she looks at me, says "No, gooo cougars!" She starts to laugh when I say "noooooo, hook 'em horns!" It's quite funny.

Jackson is growing and growing. He is now 12 pounds, almost 13. He is starting to smile and interact a little more which is always fun. Before I know it he will be crawling all over the place. He is so beautiful and is the light and joy of our lives right now.

Well, I guess that's it for now. We love you all!

Our Beloved Prophet

As some of you may not know, the prophet of the LDS church has passed away. We believe he is a prophet called of God to lead and guide the people. He was an amazing man and leader. He accomplished so much while he was prophet. He was known as "The most extraordinary LDS leader since Brigham Young." For a great article on his life please visit http://messengerandadvocate.wordpress.com/category/gordon-b-hinckley/. As I was talking to my mother about his death, she said "Oh, how sad!" As I thought about that comment, it struck me that after hearing the news of President Hinckley, I found myself feeling more happy than sad. I think that is because of my knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. The fact that President Hinckley has returned home with his Father in Heaven and with his lovely wife. I'm sure President Hinckley hasn't stopped smiling since his reunion with his wife. It was a great priveledge to have learned from President Hinckley and to have been under his direction. He was a wonderful man and everytime he walked into a room, people could feel his presence, his warmth, his love.
