Anyhow - the kids ate, we got ready and we took the kiddos to a friends house. As we were driving to the hospital the contractions started coming. Not too intense but they became regular real quick and started to become a little uncomfortable.
Upon arriving at the hospital I felt the contractions were dying off. As I approached the labor and delivery counter to check in for labor - they didn't believe me. The thought they were going to send me home because I didn't seem like I was in labor. Or didn't act like it, I guess. They roll me into the exam room, check my cervix and believe it or not, I was dialated to a 7 and was 80% ephased. They looked at me like I was crazy, and I said what? they thought it was amazing that I was dialated to a 7, having contractions, and not even seem affected by it.
They put me in a room to prepare for delivery. That was at 9:45am. I layed there for a while, contractions came and went. Some were strong, but most were mild. About 11:30, the doctor came in and asked how far apart my contractions were. I didn't know exactly but I guessed 10 minutes. He looked on the monitor to double check and he said you are having them about every 2-3 minutes. "What?" I seriously did NOT feel them that often. Right after he mentioned that, I realized "man, I'm havning a lot of back pain - can the contractions be in my back?" Absolutely they said. Let me tell ya - contractions in the back are much easier to deal with than those in your pelvic area.

About 12:00, I asked for medication - it finally reached a point to where it was REALLY painful. By the time the nurse came in to verify I wanted meds - I said, "Nevermind - it's time to push."
The doctor came in and 21 minutes and 3 big pushes later............
